Sir Duras Stonehammer

I drew the picture below one evening back in 1999. The initial drawing was done in pencil while the material came from one of those A4-sized, card, folders that one uses to protect documents or keep class registers. The eventual results were quite good I thought. Of course, this is just one version of the character in question and is somewhat different from his original incarnation (which has him with a longer beard tied into braids, very much like the classic pose of Woden in Norse mythology). Interestingly, the following year I found myself travelling across Russia and, upon reaching Moscow, discovered that the above portrait was distinctly similiar to that of the many Ikons on display.
